I can't believe Bob and Trevor tried to talk us into staying in this city for a month.

We were back in Munich for a week before hopping on a train to Berlin.

Looks cheery, doesn't it?

Maybe Berlin wouldn't have seemed so hideously ugly if I hadn't come from beautiful Bavaria. But damn, Berlin was ugly. It did, however, have a few positive attributes, like these facades, which were a welcome break from all the 60s-looking architecture that dominates the city.

Another plus is a department store in downtown Berlin, KaDeWe, which has an entire floor full of gourmet foods. The Berliners call it the "Fress-Etage," or "Pig-Out Floor."

Rachel was less excited by the Fress-Etage than by currywurst, the nasty curried-ketchup-laden sausage Berliners eat. I think she really just liked it because of the Currywurst song.
